Hey guys I am wondering how to enable signaling capabilities on my radius mobile. In the manual it says it's capable but I cant find anything in my CPS for signaling. I want to get my radio to transmit a tone or chirp upon keying or un keying my mic. Also I see stuff about the hex editing program that can possibly make my radio have more than 16 channels. Can anyone verify the accuracy of this?... I got the hex editing program but it's all a bunch of jibberish to me. And is there an easier way to enable more channel capabilities? Thanks :x

The Radius mobile radios use the "radmbl" RSS, there is NO CPS for the Radius mobile radios.

If your radio has signaling options, the option appears in the RSS. In the Signaling menu select and setup the type of signaling, MDC, ect. you want to use. Then in the MODE screen, add the signaling type.

My mistake I did mean RSS.

Heres the thing though, I am using radius moble rss version R08.00.00... in the manual for my radio it says it does signaling. Im not really concerned on getting it to do paging and whatnot, I just want to be able to have the function of having a tone or a chirp be transmitted upon keying up or un keying of the mic. Do you know how I can enable this function on my radio? Also Ive heard that I can possibly expand the channel capabilities on my radio from 16 to 32... I downloaded the hex editing program but dont really know how to do the actual modification... any help would be greatly appriciated.

From what you posted here, you want to select MDC signaling in the Signaling Menu.

I dont see any signaling option in my RSS though. that's what I dont get...Even on the sticker on my radio it says DOC/MDC and then it has a number. is my RSS too old of a version? Here is the info I have on my RSS

My radius radio is model M216 and the model number is as indicated in the header of this message.. D44LRA7PA5AK

Motorola Radio Service Software Part number HVN9173H R08.00.01 Released 05\05\1993

And on the right side of the screen it has my radio model number serial number and it says software version 06

Panel # 004

band UHF

My main menu is as follows...

F1-Help
F2-Service radio alignment
F-3 Get/Save program codeplug data from/to disk/Codeplug
F-4 Change/View create codeplug data
F-5 Print codeplug data
F-6 File Maintenance
F-7 BLANK
F-8 BLANK
F-9 Setup computer configuration
F-10 Exit radio programemer program, Return to dos.

Upon browsing through each of these menus I dont see anything on signaling. Is there some sort of modification that needs to be done ether to the RSS or the radio to enable such function??

You need to read the radio first... Then use the F4 option to see what is in the radio.

Thanks for the advice.... However I HAVE read the radio... And it does not have the option for signaling, but my radio should be able to do it. I think I just have to do the modification with the hex editing program but i need someone who can help guide me through the steps to do the mods. And does anyone know if there is a newer up to date version of RSS than what I got?? It's in this thread... maybe I am just using older RSS??
