I have an XPR6500 which has enhanced privacy programmed on it. When I do a codeplug read and go into the privacy field, the key value isn't disclosed. Is it possible to know what is the key value? Either by analyzing the codeplug file or by antoher way.

no, that would pretty much circumvent the concept of the privacy key if someone could just read the radio and have it show up in plaintext.

you will need to make a note of the key when you first create and have it saved in a good, secure location

Is it true enhanced privacy results in deteriorated audio?

For TRBO, basic privacy doesn't lose quality, however Advanced privacy does.

It happens because the DMR standard was never designed to have encryption, so Motorola retrofitted it. They did this by replacing some of the least significant bits of the voice signal with the encryption sync data. So yeah, there is a very slight loss of quality with Advanced privacy. P25 doesn't have this problem, and neither does NDXN by the way.

Cheers,
Matt

You cannot read or recover any privacy key in Mototrbo. No tools allow this, it is write only. The key is not recovered from the radio in a read command, ever.

Motorola documents do admit that some degradation of audio quality may occur when using Enhanced privacy, but my ears can't tell the different. Clear/Basic/Enhanced all sound the same to me.
