MCX-1000 Microphone Question

Post by Tim »

Hi All,

I've acquired two MCX1000s with no microphones. They program up fine.

I read the microphone writeup in the 'model specific' area, and am trying to
convert a couple of maxtrac mics to work.

I got the ground & PTT figured out, and thought I had the mic + also figured,
but no audio comes from the radio.

Didn't know if someone else was seeing the same problem. (both mics
exhibit the same problem).

There is 9.6v on the pin that I 'think' is the mic+ pin. The PTT & Hangup
are 5v.

Both mics, while having different HMN numbers, use the same PCB inside.
(84D80423E01).

Thanks,

Tim

I ended up taking a Spectra mike, & putting the Maxtrac cord & connector
on it.

Not sure what the deal is, but the Spectra mic worked fine, whereas I couldn't get
the maxtrac mics to work.

Oh well, got one of them up. Guess I'll do the same with the other.

Man, I really dislike soldering onto those mic cable wires with
the imbedded threads!
