Major Differences Between 12.5 and 20 Khz Channel Spacing

Post by N6LAU »

I recently aquired a 146-174 MHZ GM300 Model: M43GMC09C2AA which is a 12.5 khz channel spacing radio. I was wondering what the major differences are between a 12.5 khz spacing radio and a 20 khz spacing radio? Are there certain freqs that I'm not going to be able use on the 12.5 khz that I would be able to use on the 20 khz radio? Also would there be any audio deviation capability difference between the two?

So if I understand that article correctly I'll have poor RX recieving wide band signals on a 12.5 spaced radio as well as limited deviation?
