!! My first topic on Batboard !! Be kind :)

I'm gonna get Motorola GP380 soon, and will need to program it. My purpose of using it is as a civil pilot. In Czech Republic is most of civil aviation frequencies in range 118~135MHz.
Motorola GP380 VHF has range 136~174MHz. I heard that is possible to program radio to range which is out of the specification values.
Is there any way how to do so?
Are there any disadvantages? (such as lower range, bad incoming signal getting, etc...)
Any dangerous risks such as damaging radio permanently?

Thank you for your hints and opinions.

Your Motorola radio is FM, but the Aviation Band is AM, so the Motorola will not work for what you need. Buy a radio that is AM and is specifically made for the Aviation Band; Icom makes them, to name just one manufacturer.
