XTL5000 vs Astro Spectra +

Post by alannerd614 »

Good Morning,

Please forgive my ignorance...but what is the difference (or is there one?) between the XTL5000 and the Astro Spectra +.

Also is the AS+ capable of 9600 P25 trunking? (If it is different from the XTL5K)

The Astro Spectra Plus is an Anstro Spectra with an upgraded command, and vocon board so they are capable of 9600 P25 trunking. Motorola even offered a kit for in the filed upgrades of existing Astro Spectras. They had the same band split of the Astro Spectras so they are limited in that sense were you will not get the frequency range of the XTL5000's. They use Astro 25 CPS.

Excellent, thank you Jim.

Then I also assume, much like the XTL5K, it must be flashed up to do 9600 trunking.

Correct, if it does not have it now.
