Hi, When you enable the text msging option on the radio, it has a spot where you can type something you want displayed on the radio display. Is that information ever transmitted with the text messages or at any other time? I can get more specific info about the screen/field you set in CPS for it if you're not sure what I'm referring to..
Thanks!!

Re: XTS5000 Text Msging Question
I actually was messing with this a day or two ago.
The "Quick text message" box, is where you can put in canned messages (you can add more).
The other spot is to put in the "Data User List" of addresses of the other radios you want to send messages to, so that you don't have to remember them. You'll need this setup unless you have a full keyboard and
want to enter the address (ARS login address name in the WIDE Options screen) manually.
I could only get the portables to send messages when the radio was programmed for "Direct", vs repeated or FIxed Network Equipment (FNE) as shown in the Astro system / data tab. I havn't messed with it any further, however, I plan on doing so this week.
