Maratrac and Mic's

Hey all. I have a Maratrac that I want to program for VHF. It's all setup and everything. I have one of those "rocker" microphones that if you press one way you can transmit on one TX and if you press the other way you can TX on another freq on the same channel. How would I set that up in RSS or in the radio?

Regards,

-Frank C.

Your guess is as good as ours.

Those "rocker" mics are used by the California Highway Patrol and have a special interface in the radio to transmit on the 'Station' or 'Car" frequency.

There is no provisions in the Maratrac control circuits for the 'rocker mic'. There is the DIRECT button option on the control head for talkaround ,Direct, or 'car' frequency transmit.

Will,

Thanks. Guess I'll have to use that. Just gotta figure out how to program this right then...

Will,

My control head doesn't have a "Direct" button and I'm not seeing in RSS where I can do a "talk-around" besides the "talk-around - enabled/disabled" in the Radio Config area.

First and foremost, does your Maratrac have a clamshell control head or the A7 99-channel head?

Secondly, and in relation to the above, does your dual-PTT mic have a Spectra-style plug or the older Micor/Mitrek-style plug? Not that it really matters since the Maratrac doesn't support dual-PTT, but the former was used with a Syntor X9000 kit by the Washington State Police (search the board for posts by Bruce/kc7gr on the subject if you're curious) and the latter was used by CHP on their old Micors.

I've been looking around at what a clamshell control head looks like, but I really doubt it. Mine does have a Squelch pot on the head. I do believe my mic came with the Syntor X9000 I got from WSP. All my mic's all look alike and have the same plug.
