Genesis Series Earphone Jack Adapter
I'm trying to figure out if there's a difference between the NTN4812B and the NTN5557A? They look identical, except the 4812B was marketed as the MT1000/HT600 adapter, while the 5557A was marketed as the P200 adapter. Last time I checked, both radios use the same pinout on the accessory connector. Could there be a difference internally? Perhaps the 5557A doesn't have the 820 ohm resister for some reason? Basically, I need to know if the 5557A will work on an MT1000 in place of the 4812B. I really do not want to fry the radio's audio amp by testing if I can get the answer here. Thanks!

Hi,
I can verify that the 5557 does have the internal resistor. I think you hit on the bottom line, Full line Motorola and Radius
have made identical items but assigned distinctive part #'s to them based on the division. (I've also seen antennas marked with either HAD or 85- prefixes which seemed to break down to whether it was sold as a part or accessory). I have used the 5557 on P200's Ht600's and MT1000's with no problems. Glad you reminded me I have a few of these NOS to list in FS/FT section.

That's great news, thanks for the confirmation! I figured that's what was going on, different radio lines = different part #'s for otherwise identical items. I've noticed it with other items too, including the antennas as you mentioned.
