MTR2000 AC Fail and PA Fail connections

I am trying to hook up the P5 System connectoron an MTR2000 for PA Fail and AC Fail to a Zetron Model 1517. They are logic outputs and apparently I need to use a logic controlled relay to accomplish this connection. Does anyone have any information they can share? Tom

I've used a Model 18 to collect site alarms, specifically the MTR2000 AC fail and PA fail , and pass them back to dispatch. I don't know why someone would chose the Model 1517 to do that, but I am not part of the design team. The MTR does provide open collector and opto-isolated outputs that can drive the inputs of an alarm collection panel. They do not necessarily need a relay. What kind of problems are you running into?

I have figured out how to define a AC Fail by the jumper settings on the AUX I/O board. Motorola offers a set of relay contacts between A30 and B29. It does show that if the PA fails there is an OCO, 100mA, 40V, active low. Therein lies my problems on configuring a circuit to have relay closure (or provide ground) to the Zetron panel. FYI - We didn't design......we were asked to bid the system as they spec'd out. Any more help would be appreciated. Your comments regarding the possible available relay closure caused me to look further.

I'll look through my notes on what I did about two years ago, and post tomorrow.

It seems odd someone would chose a 1517 with its integrated radio paging system to notify a tech that a base station is failed especially an AC fail. If the AC fails, then the notifier will prolly be dead too unless they have batt backup for everything. We used the Model 18 and a DS0 on the microwave to ship all site alarms back.

The Model 1517 has an integrated battery and will support the internal radio. We used a customer supplied M1225. The system is notifying the tech it is going to send a announcement over the VHF Fire channel so that dispatch and the Fire Chief will be aware that the site is on backup power. Appreciate your help.
