Hello all,

I wanted to program a few frequencies in a radio for receive only and i noticed i have noted 'narrow' and 'wide' next to some of them. What's the different in narrow and wide split? Also, how to I go about programing it in the radio using astro 25 portable cps?

thanks!

You might want to look at the help file for the radio's CPS. Narrow and wide refer to the deviation of the transmitted signal as well as to the radio's bandwidth of the received signal. Channels that are set for 12.5 kHz spacing are usually narrowband. You set this up in the Zone and Channel Assignment section of the CPS. A narrowband signal received on a wideband receiver will sound weaker than if the received channel is set for narrowband, and a wideband signal received on a narrowband channel may be severely distorted.
