I have Professional Radio CPS Version R06.11.05 and I just installed it on a new laptop with windows 7 and when I try read a device it says "Can not create unknown radio component" trying to program a HT1250 and CDM1550 Had no problems before. Any ideas? And is this the newest version?

Not sure of the solution to your problem but I believe the most current version of CPS is R06.11.07.

Windows 7 isn't supported by the software, so that's likely your issue. Also, does the new laptop have an actual serial port, or are you using some sort of USB/serial converter? That could also be the issue.

Had the same issue using 6.10.04 on 64 bit vista not caused by serial convert just software does not support OS

The cable I have is a USB it works fine on my desktop that has vista. Tried running it in Vista compatibility mode but still the same thing

Windows 7 doesn't play nicely with the programming software.

Get Microsoft's Windows emulator and install the software through that. Try running the CPS that way, and your issues may go away. That's the only work around I've found.

Get Virtual PC 2007 and use that.

Don't just try compatibility mode...

Just a shot in the dark: Try right-clicking on the start icon and choose "Run as Administrator". I had an issue with touch monitor drivers not installing/running properly until I chose that option.

Are the drivers for your USB/serial converter specifically Windows 7 compatible? If they are XP/Vista, just because they appear to install, doesn't mean they are working properly.
