Can H35 do MDC ID sending and displaying?

Yes. Basic MDC is Not a flashcode option on an MTS2000. It's just a menu that gets enabled or disabled, but has nothing to do with a flashcode bit.. I have an MTS with a flashcode of 000001-000000-9 which is only H35, and it does MDC encode and decode.. With the MTS's on the used market, it's the luck of the draw. Which has a lot to do with how they were originally ordered for the original customers, seing as how the MTS was a "build a feature set" type of radio. If they needed MDC, the menu got enabled, but if it was radio that was going to do nothing but operate on a trunked system, then 9 out of 10 times it wouldn't get enabled. Not saying that it can't be enabled at a later time, but basic MDC encode is definitely not a flashcode option..

Yes, what Marc said is 100% correct. If you want an MTS2000 to do MDC, you will NEED to have (at least) that flashcode (000001-000000-9). Be extra careful when buying a used MTS, especially the ones on E-bay for 90% of them have the plain Jain basic conventional/trunking only flash (000004-000000-6). Also, my MTS (with the 000001-000000-9 flash) will display the MDC ID on my TOP display radio as well ! It's really neat to have. That IMO is where the MTS truly shines over the MT2000. Anyway, I'm just getting overly excited, time to get some morning coffee

also whether or not the MTS2000 does ID display on conventional RX seems to be firmware dependent, anything under 6.xx usually means no MDC ID display (except on selcall) regardless of H35 being present or not.

Then should find the firmware newer than 6.xx is better!

I have tried to get mine to show the id in the top display with no luck. The radio is running firmware 6.41 with flash 000001-000000-9

I turned it on. its a drop down menu that says dis or id only.
