xts5000 digital trunking??

Wondering if anyone can shed some light on this for me. I have an XTS5000 800 / 700 mhz last programmed with v12 CPS. Flascode: 500008-000482-8 which translates to:

Q806 ASTRO Digital Operation
H14 Enhanced Digital ID Display
H38 SMARTZONE Systems Operation
Q173 SMARTZONE OMNILINK Multizone Operation
Q361 ASTRO 25 9600 Baud Trunking
Q446 Channel Announcement

For whatever reason when I am in the Trunking Systems Menu and I click on Digital, the software will not let me select Astro Capable System. The area isn't even highlighted as if it is not even an option on the radio. I have an XTS3000 with the same options and I can select the Astro Capable System without a problem. Any advice would be great. I just want to make sure I'm not going nuts.

Question 1 is whether or not you have the system key or not.

Second thing, is the trunking system set as Astro25 or SmartZone? Your radio will do either 3600 or 9600 trunking systems, your XTS3k may or may not.

Yes I do have the system key. I have it set on type II. I also noticed that on the xts5000 the tab only says type II while the xts3000 says type II / IIi.

I assume based on what you say in your first post that you are attempting to configure your radio for a SmartNet/SmartZone 3600 system that has one or more P25 voice channels. If that really is the case, the first thing I'd as you is have you gone into the trunking personality talkgroups tab and set TX Voice/Signal type to Digital for the applicable talkgroups?

Perhaps if you could amplify on what it is exactly you're trying to accomplish here, we could help you better. Also, if you'll pardon me for stepping into the radio cop role for a minute, presuming you're not the system administrator, and that you're authorized to be on the system, obtaining some assistance from them in programming your radio might be in order.

Akardam you are 100% correct. I looked in the individual talk group and I can't believe I missed that little detail. Swithched it over from analog to digital and it worked great.

I am authorized on the system. I have an issued xts3000 from the job but want to have a spare that I can change around at will. My next stop was to talk to the radio shop that services our equipment but this seems like a more knowlegeable bunch. Thanks to all for your help!
