I am going to build a programing cable for my astro saber. I have done some searching. What would be the ideal wire that I could use for the radio to rib.

continuous wire
No, but really - small gauge stranded takes a beating better than solid. IOW telephone cable and CAT5 are great for occasional cables, but not daily use. Use some old serial cable. Tinselated mic cord is a pain to solder.

I use 4 conductor shielded with ground telco cable. To play it safe, I always use the ground wire for actual ground. Heat-shrink the ends and around the solder connections on your D-sub connectors (if you don't use crimp) and they'll last forever.

Just read a other post about cables. I think Ill use a cat5 crossover cable that I have in storage. it is stranded and 3ft long. Just tined it up and it works great

Jerry, I just replied to your other post on this subject, then found this post. Please refrain from multiple postings on the same subject. Keep it all in one thread to keep down clutter on the board.
On to your question. The view seen on the 'Lab is of the back of the radio. Also, yes, pin 4 to pin 11 is a simple wire jumper. This jumper is required to provide "bias" to parts of the RIB. In essence, the RIB is "turned off" without the jumper.

I can understand and appreciate it. Sense it is all based on the same subject I will keep my question here.

I am looking for the springy type pins that go in to the connector for a microphone that mounts on to the radio.
I have seen them on the web but I have gotten lost and now I can not find the web site.
Has anyone seen or know were to get them?
