Per Motorola - No and will not. Motorola said that the sales numbers for convertacoms has dropped so low, that even when they were asked by a federal agency, they said no.

Why sell a convertacom when you can sell a mobile instead? I know folks complain about the cost of the XTVA, but with a full kit and the $600 amp it's still half the cost of a mobile. Not seeing the forest for the trees is what led to users not buying them in droves and making it worth /\/\'s while to engineer them

Put this in the FAIL column. I had just begun a plan to eliminate all mobile radios in non-operations vehicles in favor of XTVAs. It not only saved me a few thousand $ per vehicle, but saved IDs on the system..... Bastards.

But, you're over a barrel, so you'll wind up buying mobiles and portables for all the vehicles. If you burn up your IDs, you'll have to migrate to a higher-end system (P25) which will cost you a few million.
Until people start standing up and bitching about these sorts of things (or jumping ship for Kenwood/Thales/Harris/etc.), it'll continue...

To quote Jack Nicholson, as the Joker, in the first Batman movie,
"Where does he get those wonderful toys?"

Work and life have kept me away from radio gear for a while. Seeing the 7000 makes me want to spend, spend, spend! Good lord, that is awesome!
