Is there a way to enable the internal speaker without using the accessory plug using RSS.

Simply, no. I am assuming you have a Model 1 control head with an internal speaker, since the other control heads do not?

A dash mount may have the internal speaker physically unplugged from the control head board if it was used with a special configuration, such as a data receiver.

Yes it is a model one,and no it was not used as a data receiver.

Ok,i got the speaker working,when i power up the radio i get FL01/79 for a second then goes away and radio works.
Where in the RSS can i correct this.

To enable internal speaker, jump 1-2 on the accessory DB25 connector.

If that doesn't work, external speaker is available on 1 & 3 of the same connector.

If the internal speaker is still inop after jumpering, pull the head apart and check to make sure the speaker is plugged in or soldered, depending on the vintage. You may still have a bad internal speaker, too..... That can be verified that everything else works by using 1 & 3 and trying an external speaker.

The error is related to the emergency switch..

Check your programming, but I believe the radio requires a jumper for the switch if no switch is used.

Jumper 4&9, this is installed in the factory accy connector.

ok i have a question on this subject do i just wire in a speaker on pins 1 and 3 and that goes to my external speaker?

Yeah, make sure you've got the emergency jumper in... not only to get rid of the error code but also IIRC there's some issue when programming where the radio can be damaged if the jumper isn't in.

Some radio techs go into the radio and unplug the control head speaker 2 pin connector from the control
board. This plug, if I remember correctly is over in the area of the rear accessory connector. You should
not have to use an external speaker for a front mount unit if it has the speaker in the head. Just connect
it up, put the jumper on the accessory connector and if it is good, it will work.

I've installed a remote head kit for a model 1 MCS2000 which I'm gathering is a bit rare. I've attached a speaker to the 2-pin Molex connector on the remote harness and I now get audio on both speakers. Is it necessary for me to take the head apart and unplug the internal speaker to silence it? I just want the better sounding audio from the external speaker.

The speaker is attached to the remote harness -- not directly to the accessory connector.
