I had the same setup a few years ago. It was a regular serial cable from the scanner to the PC.

you might have to use a crossover cable.

Do some searching on the RS232 spec to find out how to make it.

do they have Radio Shack's up there? Get a couple DB9's, some hookup wire and go sodering!
