I have a systems saber that does not always power up, when it does it seems to be slow to respond to key presses or channel changes but will Rx and Tx properly. Any ideas on what I need to check?

Slow power up may be due to unseated modules inside the radio.

Since the radio operates normally, there are no problems with the main board or modules.

On average, how long(in seconds) does the radio require to properly go through its self test?

One to two seconds max, is all it should take, with time being closer to a full second(channel count dependant).

Reseat the internal synthesizer module, reference oscillator(properly oriented) and ensure all modules are seated properly, and the rear cover module
retaining screws are tight, but not too tight(2in. Lbs MAX)
Once all internal modules are tight, and the radio is reseated in the case, tighten the two case screws to no more than (6 in Lbs. MAX).

There are two screws retaininf the synthesizer module, two screws retaining the receiver module, and two screws retaining the PA module, and a small shield between the RF filter/switch, and this also is clamped by on of the PA screws.

The secure module or dummy has no retaining screws.

Ensure ALL flex cables arfe seated properly, including the display flex on the upper left side of the frame, near the PTT/side buttons.

The controls flex seats in a socket just above the synthesizer and receiver module.
