CDM1550 software update

Post by Pilotpat824 »

I got a CDM1550 ls turned into a 1550 ls+. Now I know this software update is frowned upon by the big M  , but I am now having a problem. I have no power coming out of the radio. I can not hit a repeater less than a mile away, but when i go to talkaround (direct) it works with a radio in the same room. I am wondering if there is a way to flash the radio to get the power to work. I know what you are all thinking, he has the radio on low power. That is not what happened. I have tried on both High and Low power and nothing comes out. Also I know it is not the antenna, because it works great on another radio.
So basically does anyone have any ideas of how to make the radio work. Also i was told it might be something in the global tuning. I do not know much about that program, so if someone can help me with that too. I looked at the radio compared to another radio, and the settings were very close. So I am assuming that is not the problem.

Not even close to what I'm thinking.... I'm thinking that a new codeplug was blown in, and you wiped out all of your tuning values in the process..

The radio needs to be tuned and aligned...

If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..

CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.

Ok, is there a way to align and tune with the global tuning software?

Yes, and a service monitor... I suggest you take the radio to a qualified shop or someone that knows how to tune a radio.. Every radio is tuned individually, and you can't compare another radios tuning values to yours..

I had a cdm1550 that was wiped clean (forgot to save a load the tuning file) It wouldnt hit the repeater and it made a loud whinning noise when recieving from a repeater. I recently copied tuning data from another radio and saved it. I than took an identical radio/same model/tanapa C and loaded the tuning data from the other radio into this seperate radio and its working fine! In order for this to work, the serial number had to be copied and pasted, then clicked program all. Then once it wrote the info, I rewrote the serial number and wellaahh!
IDK?

Yea, I did the same thing, forgot to save the tuning data before I did any work on the radio. Using a tuning data file from another radio will get you close, then just fine tune it. BTW every radio we get back from Depot, we check, they aren't always the most precise when they send a radio back with a new board.
