i have a couple of W9 Astro spectras that while scanning if it stops on a non pri channel, after repeater keys down i get a bad squelch crash.
if i am not scanning and just monitoring one freq there is no crash.
Non astro conventional personalities.
I have selected the unmute, mute type to standard.
can anybody give me any pointers?
this crash is about to drive me nuts.
thanks

You may want to change the unmute type to one of the other options than "standard", but in the fringe the radio may be less likely to work well on RX. But the problem is more than likely the priority sampling, assuming you're running priority scan, it sounds like it. It's checking the priority channel and going back to the channel its locked onto to find either the turn-off code, and being shortened by the priority check, it's crashing instead.
Changing the unmute type should shorten the squelch crash, but running non-pri scan should take care of it too... maybe lengthen the time between samples.

Select the Unmute/Mute to AND OR
There is also a change to the carrier detect to shorten the squelch (mute) time. This is surface mount parts.
