Visar scan Programming

Hey,

I recently programmed my VFH Visar radio and cannot get the scan function to work properly. Here is the scenario...I programmed button #1(blue) for scan on/off, I programmed button #2 (black) for monitor. When I press button #1 it goes into scan, but when I press it again it does not come out of scan, I have to turn the radio off then on again. Now with that said, when it is in scan, it doesn't scan. I know that sounds weird, but it shows the z icon showing it is in scan, but doesn't scan. While it is in scan on a channel and a transmission comes over, it cuts out as if it is "listening" for a priority channel, but I programmed it priority on channel selector. I have never had this type of issue before, ever. Could someone please give me an idea of what to do?

Thanks

Late reply I know. I don't usually go into the CPS questions.

Question 1: What version of firmware does that unit have? 4.05 was last official release however there is a 4.07
Question 2: Are you scanning 25 to 12.5k bandsplits? (HT1000/Visar don't like that except with 4.07 firmware)
Question 3: Have you ran the Scan Fix also known as CP fix on the radio? There is a bit in there that will help with scan timing and selectivity. Not sure if this affected the Visar so much or not. Been a long time.

I've searched for Visar scan fix or CP fix and couldn't find it. I am interested also.

Ok,

According to the CP Fix software it does work with Visars I've never use it on one. Of course it's model dependent for the HT1000 and JT1000 so I'm sure it's the same for Visar. Only works on AN and BN models.

As for what it does it's simple to do a work around. (sort of)
Since the bit change occurs in the radio's codeplug it will transfer from one clone to another. WIth that, the fix also will transfer from one clone to another. i.e. If you have a radio that doesn't exhibit the problem and one that does just clone from the good radio to the bad and that will fix the "scan timing" problem.

Again this just fixes a timing issue that is known for the HT/Visar series. Symptoms are poor rx sense when scan turned on but once squelch opens in scan it works properly. This problem resets with the radio. I've noticed that this doesn't get the scan to open at exactly -116 but closer to -113 but that's better than the -90 that it used to require.

If original poster could verify that the above isn't his problem. Otherwise I have to get into U3 and ASFIC problems and we don't want to go there with a Visar.
