Anybody else ever get gibberish on the Zone line of their display? It comes and goes;
I keep my Zone line programmed as blank. What gives?

HOST/DSP/Flashcode? CH revision? History of radio? Is it just on the zone display, or other parts of the display?

I just programmed a front mount XTL 2.5k, 12.00.18 FW, left the zone line blank, it would get random characters in the zone line, they would come and go when changing channels/zones.
This radio is 2 weeks old, fresh from M, I would imagine it is a FW or CPS version issue.
I overcame the problem by programming the line with text, the problem went away.

FW: 12.00.18
DSP: 12.00.07
CH: 8.00.00
Hi power remote O5 VHF. just back from the depot. Using v.13.00.01 CPS. Everything spectragod says parallels my experience, except it isn't a new radio (and it's a XTL5K). 2-3 years old. And just the Zone display.
I'm currently seeing if plugging an O3 head into it can duplicate the gibberish. I'll report back.
ps.
To that person who knows who they are: I pronounce gibberish like a "J"; I pronounce .GIF like a "G".
So there.

I have 2 03 heads with the same FW, I don't have the issues with them, it may be a FW thing that's buggy with the M/O style heads?

I'll report back.
No gibberish with my O3 head. Until someone hears something official, I'm turning on zone names as well.
Who knows....I might learn to like them....
(Meantime I'll be converting my spare doorstop 800 analog Spectras to those FPP 6 meter Astros Spectras I've been seeing
at all the trade shows....)
