Hello. Asking all you experts out there: is it possible to program an XTS5000 (VHF) to accept FPP WITHOUT a dongle? I have seen some advertised this way but wasn't sure if this was a hacked radio or if there was a legitimate way to make it happen. Thanks.

There is tons of info here on the board about 5K's and FPP, but in short here is a good rule of thumb...
Q52 by itself in the flashcode with Host R09.xx.xx or below = No Dongle required for FPP
Q53 by itself in the flashcode with any Host = Dongle required for FPP
Q52 + Q53 in the flashcode with any Host = No Dongle required for FPP

Talked to my M rep. Q52 can only be sold to the Feds. State and Local can only get Q53. So I'm out of luck.....again! M is wearing on my nerves.

If you're not using the XTS professionally then buy a Q52/53 radio on eBay. There are tons of them available these days, both
VHF and UHF (all reflashed, of course) and they work great.
