Post by a124ave »

I got this radio in automotive junk yard in a metic van. All that was there was the radio and mic. I am new to this and would like to know what I need to get this radio working? There is a 15 pin female connector in the back with nothing in it. Can anyone help me?

You have a VHF W5 Astro Spectra, 146-174Mhz, capable of 50W and 128 channels

To program this radio, you need:
- Motorola Astro Spectra CPS and compatible PC
- Motorola Radio Interface Box (RIB)
- Spectra low/mid-power programming cable

If you haven't already, start by reading this primer: http://batlabs.com/newbie.html Where you see RSS substitute CPS. No need for DOS with CPS, only Windows 95 or higher. Estimate about $275 for the software, $200 for the OEM RIB, and $85 for the OEM cable.
