XTS 3000 Firmware Refresh

I'm looking for any help or suggestions in getting the firmware refreshed in my XTS 3000. I recently had to replace the display, and because of the current firmware in the radio, 07.09.02.00, the display will not function. I called Motorola customer service and was emailed a copy the the service bulletin, FSB-10047, I completed the attached form and emailed it back as Motorola requires. Needless to say after several emails back and fourth, requesting flashcodes, serial number, and my invoice number, I received a email advising they would not be processing my request. The reason stated was I was not the original purchaser of the radio. The email further stated I could contact a local Motorola dealer, but I would need bill of sale to submit a purchase order for firmware and CPS. I already have a current subscription to the proper CPS through my MOL account, and I bought the radio used so I don't have a bill of sale. I don't believe the radio has been hacked or stolen, I purchased it from someone who has been called reputalbe by several people on Batboards. I did call Motorola again, and the customer service rep could not understand why the firmware could not be sent to me, he did however give me the option of returning the radio to the Depot for repair, and I assume at a cost. Suggestions???

Firmware 07.09.02.00
DSP N08.02.04
Flshcd: 500008-000000-1

Thanks in advance,
Justin

We never had to supply any radio info other than the model number on the refresh forms for that FSB, but we had to have the ADD invoice # that the display was purchased on. Did they also send a refresh request form?

Jim,

They didn't supply the form with the display, I had to call Motorola and it was then emailed to me attached to the FSB 10047. I didn't originally supply the serial number, but they did request it on about the third email I received from them, so I supplied it as requested. The last email advised since I was not the original purchaser, they would not send me the firmware. I also supplied the invoice number for the display, as I had ordered it from them via my MOL account.

Thanks,
Justin

You can do a few things, If you have the correct hardware (s-rib, and OEM programming cable) needed to flash the radio and you do want to do it yourself you can have a case opened with Motorola as to why they will not send you the upgrade under the FSB. They still may tell you no, but it would be worth a try. They never questioned us (I work for a shop) as to who the customer was. Second is you could sent it to the depot with the FSB referenced as the payment. Be sure and use the latest form (you can get it off of MOL, or have them email it to you) and under the payment section, reference the FSB and it should be done at no cost.
