Motorola MTS2000 radio problems

I have 2 MTS2000 which now do not work!

The first one, turns on, but shows nothing on the LCD (I know it powers on due to the self test LED (green) powers up) but it transmits to an extent but doesn't transmit my voice or any sound when the PTT is pushed :( the other radios show signs that the radio is transmitting but none of them recieve a signal of my voice!

The second radio, doesn't power on at all! When it did work for a short time, the radio was in a trunked mode and as I don't have the system key it wouldn't allow me to remove the channels and just kept coming up with a 1 or I CSQ on the LCD. One thing I noticed, was that compared to the other radios there wasn't many options avaliable to program the radio (the radio software was very old compared to the other 4 radios!)

Can you give me some help/advice on this matter please?

What exact model number are the two radios, and what software and what version of the software did you use to program them?

Was it the DOS RSS or Windows CPS??

With this information, we can help you.

You will probably have to recover the radios using a labtool. I ran into this with a local FD. The AN and BN versions (most of them) have an incompatibility with the newer CPS vs. DOS RSS, and when trying to write to the radios because of whatever difference is going on in the codeplug they become corrupted.

The factory can recover them for the usual flat rate fee.....

Hi, the other 3 radios have had no problem writing to the radio codeplug (exact same model and firmware). How much is the flate rate fee?

Im in the UK so it will cost an arm and leg! I also think all the radios need firmware updates as they are very old!

Thanks for all your help.

Probably be easier to find someone willing to labtool them for you.

Not sure what the procedure or rate would be for radios in the UK.
