I am new to programming this radio.

When programming the M1225 and I would suppose the P1225 also, does the rss default to the narrow configuration?

When I want to use the radio in wide mode (i.e. 5khz deviation) what do I do to change to this mode?

All I'm seeing is the channel spacing. i.e. 12.25khz or 25khz etc.

So to change a single channel to wide I just change channel spacing to 25khz?

Correct, just change it to 25KHz spacing, which will allow 5KHz deviation.
