motorola mocom 70 control head
hi guys: does anyone out their have a listing for the pin numbers (what each pin is for) on the back of the mocom 70 control head? any info would be helpful.
Re: motorola mocom 70 control head
There are several control heads listed in the manual I have. Variations include:
1, 2, or 4 channel
with or without dimmer
trunk mount or dash mount
There are two wiring methods depending on use, and the connectors are quite different. One connector (19-pin) seems to match the one on the radio; it has 16 small pins around the perimeter and 3 larger pins in the middle. I suspect this would be used for dash-mounts as it would plug directly into the front of the radio.
The other wiring uses an (approximately) 34-pin female terminal block, which you plug appropriately numbered wires into. The control cable from the radio has a 19-pin connector at the radio end and at least 19 numbered pins that plug into this terminal block on the back of the control head. For the most part, the socket numbers match the pins on the 19-pin connector, but the terminal block also provides connection points for ignition control, the loudspeaker, and the microphone hang-up box.
There are fold-out diagrams in the manual for both styles, but I'd need to know which one you have so you get the appropriate information.

The bulbs are common #51 and cost about $1 each depending on quantity. Available from Mouser and several fleabay sellers.
