MTS2000 FAIL 01/93

Hello!

I got 4x MTS2000 with FAIL 01/93 error. (3x VHF, 1x 800MHz)
As I know they were programmed by LAB 02.00.01 Software that caused this error on this radio.
No S-records have done before

My Questions are:

1. Using LABTOOL 10.24.94 R03.00.02 Oct 24, 1994 Can I read the same model radio using F3->F4 (Read / write radio with no pack/unpack) and program the "bricked" one ?
2. Can I do something with previosuly saved codeplug (saved by lab 02.00.01) of one of the radios to restore one of them using the new labtool ?

Thank You!

So the best solution is to paint them to blue color and throw them to the sea ?

or replace the controller with MTX controllers and "salvage" them as MT2000's, or part them out (display boards are getting expensive for those ASSuming yours have good displays).
NEVER use LAB/DEPOT on an MTS2000 UNLESS you've done an S-record b/up and even then, why? IF an MTS2K has a F/W of 5.42 or greater you WILL toolproof it if you WRITE to it with LAB/DEPOT (which you aren't supposed to have anyway right?)
You could always flat rate repair them, if you don't mind paying up while Motorola still repairs them under flat rate (last I sent one in it was around $280 shipping not included but this was quite a while ago).

I never use lab tool to write to this radios.
I'm working with rss 06.07.00 only, so I never bricked this type of radios :)

In rss 06.07.00 F8- FLASH Upgrade can solve this problem ?
PCON Plus can solve the problem?

Thank You!

if LAB/DEPOT wasn't used than you should not get the FAIL 01/93 error so how did they get this way?
no, a flash port upgrade will NOT clear the error nor the use of other unauthorized tools including PCON plus, the only thing that can is the depot.

I got these radios for repair with this error.

If I understand right, I need the DEPOT TOOL to fix this error ?

Thanks

yes, the only thing that will recover a toolproof error (other than a specific pre-toolproof S-record for that particular radio) is the Flashport depot tool, which only exists at the depot and radio support centers. So your bricked MTS2000's must go back to ma M for repair.

I would venture a guess that if you had pre toolproof firmware in un-encrypted form one could use the European uni-rib and a procedure similar to flashing it to a European model to restore it to a mts2000. I've never verified this, but I don't see why it would not work. The only problem would be finding the un-encrypted firmware, but I think I have seen some floating around packaged with some really old tools.
