We have a number of ht1000's and mt1500's in service and I need some ideas for 12 volt chargers to mount in the trucks. Does anyone have an idea of any chargers, Mot. or aftermarket that will do these batteries? I would like two to four charge positions at least....

Are ther any that are impress compatable? (ie do impress)

The WPLN4208B is a Impress 12 volt charger. That would work for both batteries. They are a bit spendy when new, but there were bunch on ebay from $45.00 to $75.00 a few weeks ago. Also the older NTN9176B chargers. I would assume they will work for the XTS2500 batteries as well as the Jedi. Motorola also sold CLA's that would plug into some of the desk top chargers.

Most of the chargers run on 12 to 18 volts and will work in a vehicle off the 12 volts You just need a DC power cord.

I have the NTN9176B charger mentioned by n7maq. It will charge HT1000s, XTS1500s, XTS2500s, XTS3000s, & XTS5000s. It is able to recognize NiCd, NiMh, or lithium and charge appropriately. It recognizes if a battery is too hot or too cold to charge and will wait until it is at an appropriate temperature to charge. It has a metal housing with a metal mounting bracket. It does take up a little space (I think 4"x4"x8"), but I drive an older Ford truck so space is not much of an issue for me. If you are using a Pac/RT or VRS it can control that too. The Impress charger is a better choice if you are using Impress batteries, but this one works well for me.

Motorola Conditioning Charger (MCC) Multi-Unit Charger, Four-Station Base, 110V (order adapter plates separately)
The MCC utilize negative pulse charging technology that will help extend battery life and enhance battery operation. It will safely condition and charge your Nickel Cadmium (NiCd) and Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) batteries in one to two hours. The MCC controls heat buildup due to its charging and termination algorithms and its maintenance mode allows batteries to be safely left on the charger for extended periods of time. Optional accessories are available allowing these chargers to be used in both AC and DC environments providing optimal charging flexibility.

MULTI UNIT CONDITIONING CHARGER

Any comment on these? Who makes them for Mother-M? Good? OK? Junk?

They seem to adapt to 12 volt and can use any battery insert...

These chargers are great. I have been using the single unit versions since '98. They are made in Miami Florida by AdvanceTec, & sold under their name & Motorola too. They run off 12 volt wall warts, so they can easily work in the car with a common 12 volt liter cord. While they don't work with Li ion they do a great job for the nicad's & nimh batteries. The cops down in Broward County even use them in their cruisers to charge up their spare batteries. You can't overcharge your batteries with these units. You can change the adapter plate so they will work with any battery they make an adapter for. This is my favorite charging system. GARY N4KVE
