Local Extended Remotes - Cable Distances

Okay, I haven't had a situation where I've had a "large" installation of Local Extended Remotes and guess what...now I do lol. I was reading the installation manual and it says that you can have a max. of 10 remotes per control station and Maximum distance from the radio is limited to 1000 feet of total cable length which is where I'm confused. Does the 1000 feet of total cable mean that each remote can only have 100 feet on average of cable if each run was a "home run" to the control station or does it mean that the furthest any remote can be is 1000 feet from the control station, however the cumulative amout of cable of the 10 remotes could be much greater than that (i.e. 10,000 feet). If you have any insight I would appreciate your input.

You can have 10 runs of 1000 ft, but it will sound mushy. I don't recall the jumpers off the top of my head. You will be playing a game to set the jumpers and levels so all the remotes sound about the same. Good times.

That is a bunch of wires to run all over the place. You sure you don't want to convert that whole mess to tone
remote and go with a 2 wire or a 4 wire control system?

Any Motorola local remote installation I've done I only used 4 wires anyway...PTT, Ground, RX+, TX+. I just jumpered the TX-, RX- & 'PTT common' to ground within the remotes themselves.

I've done the same and used the remaining two pairs to power the remotes. But, I've never run them further than a couple hundred feet. Then I could wall mount the remotes without needing power outlets nearby.
