APX7000 Fpp

Post by kb0uxv »

Hello,

Is there a way to allow dongle free FPP with option Q53?

I know that Q53 is FCC "dongle" style FPP.

I just got a new APX7000 from Motorola last week and it has Q53.

I have the dongle and it is a pain to carry around.

I know that Q52 is federal "dongle free FPP"

I am in a State agency and as such when I ordered this unit our vendor was unable to add Q52 (since I am not Federal - only Q53)

I see used APX radios have been selling on these, and other boards, with DONGLE FREE FPP and option Q53.

So is there a way in the APX CPS to allow dongle free on Q53?

Or, is it possible to modify a speaker mic to allow FPP and still remain functional?

Thank you.

The guys that sell Q52-Q53 radios online are either buying them from the government or more likely hacking the CPS to change the flashed options by adding Q52 (someone posted a screenshot of this interface here once but never explained how to actually get to it). There is no way to allow Q53 to FPP without the adapter.

Whether you can modify a speaker mic to integrate the dongle, I don't have a clue 8)

ETA - are you saying that you saw an APX with only Q53 and dongle-less FPP? If so that is new to me...
The bandsplit is only a suggestion.

I have a APX7000 UHF1/VHF with only Q53 in the flash, and my radio is dongle free imput editing. How it was done I do not know, but I assure you it works.
This is exactly how I bought it. Pics of FPP and edit feature.

Radio Crazy, did you buy yours on the used market or right from Motorola?

On my menu FPP does not even appear until I connect the dongle...

Thanks for the replys.

What's the p/n on the dongle adapter? I have Q52, so do I need this?

It stinks that people can get this Q52 so easily in hacked used radios, but (non-federal) users with an actual operational need can't have it via the legal channels.

And those of you with APXs probably know how easy those speaker mic screws strip out. I think I am on my third one now - the latest borrowed from a HT1250 mic, that screw seems to be lasting.

Ya, I hear ya. I don't get it. I mean, it's not like you can program everything with it. And to be honest, it's quite clunky. I pre-programmed about 10 "dummy" channels in a separate "custom" zone so I can go there and spin up an "on-the-fly" frequency if I never needed it (assuming I new all the info out in the field.... PL, NAC, etc).

I have the same. 2 Zones with one called Analog FPP and the other Digital FPP. All seperate personalities and ready on the fly.
