HMN3000B Desk Mic and MCS2000

Post by NSPD »

I picked up a Motorola HMN3000B Desk Mic new in box at a hamfest a couple of weeks ago. I know this works with the Maxtrac series, but will it work with the MCS2000's? It appears to have the same connector.

I'm just trying to take inventory of what I currently have that will work with the base setup I want to put together.

Thanks!

I will take that as a no by directly plugging it in?

In my personal experience, I gave my friend a Maxtrac/GTX handmike to use in his 900 mhz model 1 MCS 2000 & it worked fine. However the programming cables are slightly different, & that's what the diagram is showing. Something about that resistor. GARY N4KVE

He showed you how to figure it out. Compare the rj pinouts between the two models.

In short, yes, it will work. You may need to adjust the small sensitivity pot inside the mic to get it to sound ok, but it will work.
No trees were harmed in the posting of this message...however an extraordinarily large number of electrons were horribly inconvenienced.
