hi
i use HT600s for my sound and lighting crew for running concerts. they work great during set up and tear down but suck during the show because they pick up too much background noise. does anybody have any experience with these radios in noisy environments and have any idea for me? i already turned the mic gain down to -3 in the RSS. that seemed to help some but not enough. im wondering if maybe an ear mic would work better?

I remember back in the day (when I was in high school, and I was part of the drama department, we help set the stage, worked lighting, etc.) we originally used GP350's. During the play/concert, forget about hearing anything though the radio's speaker, so we used speaker mics. MUCH better for audio quality, plus it kept us from digging for our radios in the process.
I would recommend at least a speaker mic for them. Or even an ear-bud system would work as well, but for me, comfort would be an issue with them.

Agree about the speaker mics. If the noise cancelling type is available for the HT600 this would be the best option short of going to an in-ear or headset arrangement. (H.S. Stage Crew (lighting and audio) here also).

Comtronics has a throat mic setup that can ordered for about any radio on the market. i have sold a few of them to some of the local FDs for the fire command and they love them. they can communicate when they are standing next to the engine.
