Hello,

I have a VHF Maxtrac 100 that has a interesting TX power problem. When I program the radio outside of the specified band limits (below 146 mHz) the radio puts out full power, regardless of what setting is entered in the RSS. Has anyone else had a similar problem?

Thanks,
Ryan

Hi:

Some Maxtracs / Radius Mobiles have a "Option" that alows for operation
outside the limits.

Also, be aware, that when the radio leaves
the Factory, the " Soft Pots " under the
Logic Board Replacement Window are NOT always
alighned over the Entire Freq range.

In other words, you will probably find the
Dev Audio not operating well either.

All one has to do ( if you do not have any
test equipment ) is to chose a "value" close
to the " Values " Chosen over the ones set
by the Factory....Typically the Dev Pots are
around 31, 32, 33( Default is 17 ) , and the Transmitt can be 41, 42, 43.

Hope that helps.

Also VHF Radios are MORE critical than the UHF ones.

Monty,

Thanks for the information. I tried to adjust the "softpots" under the logic board replacement menu, but I don't quite understand what the values mean. There are 4 columns of numbers (1-16) with a value next to them. I assume that is the values I need to adjust. Currently, they are set in ascending order from 10-20 in ascending order. Do the values I need to enter start at a lower number than 10 and likewise higher than 20?

As far as I can tell, the deviation on the radio is fine, it is just the power that I cannot adjust.

Thanks,
Ryan

Hi:

Pay attention to the " Soft Pot " values in the Center 2 Rows.

Since you may not have a Service Monitor or
Wattment availible, use the " Values " in the center row, and duplicate them in the 1st
Row of values.

May not get you totally on, but it should
get you close.

If you give up, you can always go the Complete Logic Board replacemnet route.

Monty,

Got it fixed and working. I ended up going the "logic board replacement" route and got it working just fine. Thanks so much for your help!
