SPectra A7 (6.1x) not zoning
I have a Spectra with A7 head with a 5.xx firmware and the zone feature is locked out in the RSS. I swapped the MLM board to one with 6.1x firmware. The radio boot up and everything is still working as the original 5.xxx with the zone still locked out. Next..... I clone a codeplug from another same model A7 radio with 6.16 firmware and a working zone and scan option. The radio took the codeplug and the zone is working but I lost scan capability(scan was set up prior to clone). I tried to go in with the clone version to turn the scan on but it is locked out. I re-read the radio but it still have the zone locked out in the RSS as though it is still has the 5.xx firmware. I did a version check and the radio shows the new firmware version as it should. What up with this?
Motorola: 900Mhz GTX, Spectras, Gm300, Maxtrac, Desktrac, MT2000, MTS2000, EX600XLS, HT750.

You will have to rebuild the scan list for each channel in the radio. I use the zone feature all the time and it
works well. It's just that you need to have down on paper, like in an Excel spread sheet just what you want
in the radio prior to starting any programming. It is very easy to loose track of just where you are and in
which zone your trying to do the programming in.

It sounds like he's saying he lost the scan feature completely, not that it's just unprogrammed.
What you are running into is the fact that Spectra feature set programming is carried on both the MLM and the command board. When you're doing feature hacking like this, it's always best to swap the MLM and the command board it came with at the same time. Of course, you may run into a situation where the host command board is FUBAR'd from capacitor leakage, and in that case it can't be avoided.
If the command board that your 6.1x MLM "belongs" to isn't available, get it back to where you have zone capability but no scan, then go into the MOFLAG section of LAB RSS and re-enable scan. You may find that you lose scan capability with successive reads and writes; this is again the fault of old feature set programming in the command board. SAVE A GOOD WORKING CODEPLUG - you will thank yourself later if you run into problems.
