Syntor X White to Orange Module Conversion

Once upon a time the earlier Syntor X's had "white label" memory modules containing an old-style PROM (or was it a UV-erasible eprom?)

Anyway, conventional wisdom was that they were rare and you weren't likely to get one. Well...I have one. I have some orange label modules which I would rather use, but I have a recollection that in order to use the orange label module, you have to make a couple of component changes on the personality board.

Does anyone have a scan of the Motorola service bulletin covering this mod? I need it, and Eric would probably like to put it on Repeater-Builder as well before the details are lost to antiquity. Didn't see it anywhere on the web.

The part number (68-80100W53) for the Motorola manual covering the radio for a white label PROM memory module to an orange label EEPROM memory module conversion is located here:

http://www.onfreq.com/syntorx/syntorx/progx.html#whtmod

The problem was some of the older personality boards built before 7-3-1984 may or may not have electrically slow IC chips for U2 and U3 that do not communicate with the orange label EEPROM memory module correctly. Only if needed, the retrofit was to replace these two chips. You could just try an orange label memory module and see if it works or not.

Unfortunately, my copy of the field retrofit procedure manual is in storage over 1000 miles away from where I live now.
