Astro Saber, Help!!!

While programming my Astro Digital Saber Power was lost I have a strange fail code that is not in the service manual. Is there anyone out there who can reprogram the vocoder board, I called Motorola and they want over $1000.00 for a new part, and the Depot does not repair. Or does anyone know where i can get a surface mount flash reader to read the flash without removing the chips I have never micro soldered and this is not the time to learn. The radio powers up and displays two error codes, no service mode cps and rss will not read the radio. I am willing to pay to have this working. Any help or service would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

What error codes is it giving you. We are not clairvoyant.

Fail 01/82 is a corrupted external codeplug. If you have a saved archive you may be able to recover the radio. It will probably be cheaper and easier to find another radio instead of considering a new board from Motorola

The last time I received a fail 01/82 scared the crap out of me, probably as much as it is with you right now.

If you have an old codeplug that you saved, just reload it into the radio and it should fix the problem. It took me three times to successfully get the radio working again, but I was using a broken aftermarket cable with mine.

I have tried reloading the codeplug in cps I wish I had a dos rss codeplug I seem to think it would fix it but i'm unable to get one. I have tried loading a working cps codeplug many times with no luck. I know the cable and rib are good my dos rss can read and wite with no unpack

managed to create a dos codeplug from my other saber that was programmed by cps. Still no response from the radio during program time out error or no ack, everything works great with the other radio. I think i need to gt it re-flashed at this point, Does anyone know where to get it flashed, or get a new command board / vocoder for a decent price? Since the depot no longer supports the Astro Saber, can any dealer flash them?

The key to writing in your saved archive is starting the write before the radio produces the error.

Has anyone actually recovered a radio from a 34/82? I have an Astro Saber VOCON with that code and it refuses to communicate via programming. No handshake, nothing.. RSS acts like I don't even have a radio connected.

I have tried to write while power up also, I can get it stuck on just the 01/82 error but as soon as i cancel the write, after no ack rss error it reboots and goes back to both errors.

saberhack, you said you can read and write with no unpack? Read it with no unpack and post the s-record somewhere so we can look at it. Then see if you can shove a donor s-record in just to see how it behaves. Make sure you save whats in it now first though.

the broken radio will not read with no unpack. I made a dos code plug that way with another saber that I have the broken saber will not respond to rss or cps
