Are you talking about the management cable and software package for the MUC for multiple MUCs?

This is a stand alone charger but I am not sure the cable is even connectorized.
There is a mod for installing a remote display on a standard charger, which would give essentially the same data.
I have made several, and they use standard telco components unless you want to actually mount the display on the charge, then no additional hardware except some careful machining, is required.

The charger output is serial to the display. The trick is having the software in the computer to interpret the data and make the nice shiny screens.
Most people would just go for a display addon to a single charger, or buy a MUC and add displays. Plug and play.
I just purchased several MUCS from a UK supplier on eBay, and they came with 6 adapters per charger. Now my chargers can charge either XTS style or HT1250 style batteries with a simple change of the insert. (Of course, also Jedi and Saber too!)

You are correct, however there IS NO CONNECTOR on the Impress charger, only a header inside that the display plugs into. The info for that connector is already on this board, use search. The 4 wires are power, gnd, serial data + and -. VERY simple hookup.

The IMPRES reader is not just a standard charger. It is a custom unit with special firmware. You can not just add a "cable" to an IMPRES charger and have it operate as the IMPRES reader to display all the battery parameters.
Here is the link to the reader

The standard Impres desk charger doesn't have a USB interface but it DOES accomodate a display, with an internal connector. Since the base circuit board is exactly the same for the MUC and any individual chargers and all you have to do to get all that Impres data is plug in a display, I contest that the fancy 'IMPRES Reader' is nothing more than a modified single charger with the unobtainium charger adapters (which are available in the UK but not North America), a USB cable and interface, and the fancy GUI from Motorola.
I have modified a jillion single unit chargers to add displays, so the OP would probably be better off just spending the $80 + a few bucks for hardware and modifying his own charger to get the data he needs. There is NO WAY he is going to be able to write the GUI, so the easiest thing is to either modify for a display or buy the Reader package.
I would like to know if someone here has had a customer willing to spend that kind of money instead of doing the interconnected MUCs option, that way we could actually disect a charger and see what they modified.

There's a great deal of information displayed by the USB reader that does not get outputted to the LCD display. The most detailed info is the charge cycle info, i.e. where the battery was at when the range of charge cycles were initiated as well as when the charge was completed (or interrupted). I don't believe the LCD display or radios will provide the date of first initialization, either. This is not to say that the reader does not have some form of custom firmware but my suspicion is that it does.

"...the fancy 'IMPRES Reader' is nothing more than a modified single charger ..."

Only to the extent of using the same plastic housing as the single unit IMPRES charger. The reader has an entirely different board inside that is not based on the charger and has no ability to charge batteries or do anything other than read batteries.
OTOH - the APX dual charger has a USB jack so if you have one of those and a USB cord plus the IMPRES Fleet software - you're all set.

So the Impres Reader is even more useless than an Impres charger without a display.
You have to buy the darn thing and the fancy software from Moto.
Depending on what purpose you need all that data for, buying a charger and adding a display is going to be FAR cheaper.
IF you are managing a very large fleet of radios then an Impres Reader is something you should buy. (Maybe) When I plop an Impres battery into a charger here for a customer, I am only interested in what state the battery is when the charge cycle is complete. Is it good, bad, or marginal?
Once again I contend that adding a display to a desk charger or buying a MUC with some displays is a better alternative for the person with less than 200 radios.

I don't understand this statement.
In our system, not one of our IMPRES chargers in the field has a display and have never had a use for one (at the user level).
The IMPRES reader is a valuable tool that we use for battery management (at the management level). It tells us a weath of information that we can then refine our tradio training and use guidelines.
To make a broad statement about products is generally not helpful. It really depends on the requirements and applications.

Hence my qualifying statement after the first sentence.
For an INDIVIDUAL, its an expensive 'big deal'.
For a FLEET, MAYBE, if you have some protocol in place to tell people how to charge their radios.
In most of the circumstances where we have customers now with thousands of XTS's spread across the state, the simple 'battery dead, take charged one outta charger' works for them. If the battery consistently goes dead, they send it to us to check. Training? Where I am, PL is a big deal and a complete mystery.
Even I have difficulty convincing sales personnel that they should be telling their customers to consider upgrading to Impres chargers.

Bah humbug. I for one am buying the Impres reader for two reasons. First, I like to know how my batteries are doing. Second, I desire all those fancy adapters to go with my charger on deployment or trips. Carrying one charger is worth $200 to me.
