Astro 25 mobile: System cannot find the file specified

This is the error I receive when using Astro 25 mobile software. This is a new install with factory software on a Dell Laptop that runs MOTOTRO with no problems. The software loaded on Dell desktops with no problem. Now the only difference I see between the 2 Dell's is one is connected to the internet, through our company server, and the laptop has no capability to.
When the software crashes I get the following error file: Error Signature- AppName patmob.exe AppVer 13.0.0.1
mvoname rui50c.dll ModVer 9.1.4.8 offset00020c98. I tried copying the DLL and the patmob.exe from the desktop to the laptop and still received the same error.

Does the laptop have a serial port or usb>serial adapter when you try starting CPS?

Did you paste all the .dll files in the RDK folder, or where did you copy them to?

Ok an update. I installed the software on an identical computer, running XP SP2, It installed fine but it did some additional loading of .Net. The computer in question is SP1, I suspect that there is something different with relation to the .Net software.

Did you ever think that you might want to update your Windows by getting on the web and going to "start" on
your computer and then "Windows Update". Your so far behind on the updates, I am surprised anything works.


Windows XP is well into service pack 3 now. They are about to shut off the updates in trying to push everyone
to go to Windows 7. It will take you some time with all the updates that need to be loaded in. Might take you
several hours to get up to speed and don't forget to look at the computer once in a while as it will ask you some
questions and require a few reboots.

This computer is a standalone computer, it is not authorized for use on the company's intranet or internet. I have since downloaded the SP3 update on an authorized computer and burned it to a CD. I will try to update XP to see if that corrects the issue, or after I burn an image of the hard drive, I am just going to send the whole computer back to IT and let them to do the update.

I am having the same issue with all my CPS apps with the error stating the the field specified is missing. But I have no idea what file that might be. I do have the rui50c.dll file in the common files/Motorola/RDK/ADK7_2_SP04_SR2 folder so I have to assume that dll is looking for something thats not where it should be.

I think if I can get this figured out all my CPS programs will run fine. I have MTS2000, MCS2000, Astro/Saber (XTS3000), Astro_Spectra, Astro P25 portable and mobile.

All those CPS packages will give that error if the computer doesn't have a native COM port. Just install a USB-to-serial driver and plug in the USB-to-serial cable before starting the CPS. It should then see a valid COM port & run normally.

Thanks...found that out the hard way. After the XP refresh I did, I installed the software 1st before the USB/Serial adapter so there was no com port in device manager so of course CPS choked, but you would have thought that it would have been a little more direct on the error and just say, hey stupid I dont see a com port....Lesson learned.
