Rebanding has nothing to do with narrowband. Are you talking about 800 or VHF?

Well now, if we are talking 800MHz it doesn't really matter as your system manager will provide you with a properly configured radio or the requirements if necessary. Sorry if I thought you wanted to make sure a VHF radio had the elusive 2.5KHz RF board, your statement was a bit cryptic.

There is some merit to the question, as not all radios will do rebanding due to firmware.
Even if the sys admin will allow him to use the system, the OP should be buying radios with rebanded firmware in them to avoid the need of an upgrade prior to use on the system.
The answer to the question is a question "What is the Host / DSP of the radio?"

Depending on which radio you have, you put it in the "service mode". On an Astro Saber, this means you turn the radio on, & within 5 seconds hit the rear button under the PTT switch 5 times quickly. If you just hear a single beep, it's not rebanded. If however you hear the same tone as when keying up on a trunked Motorola radio, or a Nextel radio, your radio has rebanding firmware. Or, if the host/dsp is R07.71.06/N08.03.05, you're good to go. Again, this applies to an Astro Saber since that's the radio the OP mentioned. GARY N4KVE

Ok I have a astro saber 3. Now on my trs. My old mts2k mod1 is on the same trs. When I key up on my as3 its the same as my mts. The as3 is rebanded cuz we have a trs next to are county in the radios. And it rebanded. My mts is not rebanded. The as3 is host I think is. Ro 7.71.06 dsp is 8.03.05. My fcode is 5000080004007. Thanks

The mts dos not have the rebanded trs in it and the radio dos not have the rebanded in it
