all motorola sabers are capable of 16 channels if you pull off the challel selector and remove the channel block circle you can get 16 channels on your saber

has anyone tried to program 16 on what looks like a 12?

I pulled off a 12 channel selector once and i was able to transmit on the other 4 channels and was wondering if anyone else has tried this and to what degree

Keep us posted. It's been a few years since I messed with a saber but I would like to hear your outcome.

Also, If anyone has a saber VHF 146 and above split, private message me as I would like to arrange a swap or purchase if you're interested.

Looking for saber 2 or 3 in VHF to toy with.

No not really! but 120 channels is pleanty for me...If your gonna fill that up over 120 frequencies? I'd wonder about the codeplug? If it could handle it? On a JT1000 it can't break 16 channels in memory.. keep us posted! Ed

They won't. The selector switch has more than 12 positions (15, actually...or is it 16?) but you can't get extra channels. If you do some study on it, you'll find out that your 'extra' channels are really just other channels that are already in the first 12, and possibly in a different zone.

Plus, there's no way to program any channels past 12 in any zone.

I tried it too. Mine goes 15 spaces slot 13, 14 show unprog and beep, slot 15 seems to really be zone1 channel 1 with the display text from the next zone. (weired). Was a good thought though.
