I am working with a PM1500 an trying to get a 4 pin RJ45 CDM mic to work from the J600 Remote Mount Accessory Connector, I am reading the service manual an it gives me pin 1 Auxiliary PTT input, pin 10 GND, pin 15 Auxiliary microphone input, pin 11 GND. when using the pins the radio will key up but will not pass audio can anyone help to get the audio input going.

I am going by memory here, but you will have to go into the 1st radio menu display that comes up.
Left click on the "plus" sign of the "radio configuration" there.
Then double click on the line "Radio wide'.
Another window will come up and you left click on the "TX Audio control Per Mode" tab.
Then left click on the "Advanced" tab.
At the bottom you will see a line that says "AUX PTT Audio Source". This has only 2 selections, "AUX_MIC" and
"AUX_TX". Try the one that was not showing. Motorola software geeks can't seem to get their act together
and keep flip flopping on this selection depending on which software version your using.

There is another setting that you need to be aware of. This one controls the mic gain and can make your audio
sound good or have all sorts of noise in the background. The default is with the blocks checked for AGC.
In the radio wide selection, then the "TX Audio Control Per Mode", in the center of the window you have the
"External Mic' settings. I always un-check the AGC and adjust the gain setting to what I need for the audio
source I am using. If the gain is too high, you will just bring up all the back ground noise. I like to have it set for
close talking of the mic and very little of the background comes through. A quick check of this is to see how fast
the audio falls off by moving the mic away from your mouth. I set mine for about 6 to 12 inches drops my deviation
way down. The default with the normal hand mic on the control head is about 2 feet. This is way too much gain
in my opinion.

i am using Software version 14.00.00 and i tried changing “Aux PTT Audio Source” from AUX_TX to AUX_MIC but no luck not even static or bag ground noise only rf, now in the service manual under pin 15 it says “Jumpers exist on the TIB to change this pin to MIC_IN, DAC_AUDIO_OUT, and VIPOUT_1 passthrough). MIC_IN routes to the transceiver MiC_HI input” so it may be set to outer then MIC_IN I will have to play with the TIB to find the jumper as it dos not cover it in the manual.

I may have led you slightly astray with my instructions. They are for the DB25 connector on the face
of the radio itself and not for the control head. I went back and re read your post. Sorry about that.

You can get the mic to work well at the DB25 connector. Do it fairly frequently.

i am referring to the J600 ACCESSORY witch is a DB25 pin and i got the ptt to work with pin 1 ptt to pin 10 gnd but pin 15 ill not accept audio

I am looking at the J600 connector information and it is showing pin 8 as the TX audio in. Pin 15 is monitor.
Pin 6 or 9 is fixed RX audio. Pin 12 is also a MIC in, but I have never used this pin. I always use pin 8.
Pin 10 is analog ground. Pin 13 is the emergency line, generally you ground this pin to be on the safe side.

Unless your into the data bus, those are all the lines you should be interested in.

Not sure where you got your info from, but if you look on page 8-7 and 8-8 of the basic service manual this is where
it is. manual number is 6871241L01-B.

This manual is available on the MOL Motorola site for those that have an account for downloading.

Jim you may be right i should use pin 8 instead of pin 15. 6871241L01-B page 8-7 and page 8-8 Table 8-3 is what i was reading

I changed the "AUX PTT Audio Source" and only worked on pin 8 and not pin 15 but the audio is very slow and after 5 seconds drop completely i tried different AGC settings but didn’t do much.

You need to uncheck the AGC setting and move to the right. Raise the gain up to the max. I think that will be
a +12 on that radio.

Se if this doesn't fix your external TX low audio problem.
