Ok, so I'm working with a D44 bitbanged from Range 2 to Range 3...

I put my codeplug into the radio, except instead of doing a "Self Check" the screen sits on "PROGRAM". Punching the power button results in a FL 01/82, which I know is either a Reprogram of the EEPROM or to check/replace J501/502 or U502. Reading/Writing back to the radio during this FL 01/82 results in a warning message in RSS saying the radio is inhibited and that a re-program will un-inhibit the radio.


So what do I do now? The only change between the codeplug on the radio, and the codeplug I pulled from it, was that one had zones and the other didn't. Yes I am running MLM6.16

Just so I'm clear, this is the order I did things in.

Open Codeplug
Edited my zones and a few modes
Hit F8 for Program Radio
No Self Check but "PROGRAM"
Power on/off
Fail 01/82
Reprogram with same codeplug gives "radio inhibited" message

Here goes the age old question of do have a saved file for the codeplug before you messed with it? Hopefully
you saved it to another location and can call it back and dump it back into the radio. I tend to change the
archive directory and save the codeplug to a floppy before starting to mess with any radio. Then change
the archive back to the normal directory and go from there.

It is not that hard to mess up a radio with zones and have some sort of the same problem your having. I can
attest to doing it myself on a number of occasions. Normally it is because I forgot to change something in
the zone software settings. It can get confusing between the frequency changes in the mode, then making
sure you got the mode set correctly in the zone and so on.

I have had to on occasion go in and delete an entire zone and start over because of some mistake or glitch
that took place. It just happened last week on a zone I had set up for the weather channels. In looking at
all the frequency info, it looked perfect. Yet when I went to that zone I was coming up with a VCO error. I
dumped the entire zone and added it back in. Problem went away.

See if the radio will let you change zones and if the problem is only on one zone. If so, your trouble shooting
just got easier.

Yes I still have the original codeplug. I always keep them now.

As far as zones go, it's a little hard to switch through them when the radio is stuck saying PROGRAM...It doesn't even go back through the Self Check after programming.
