Hi everybody, this is my first post here. My job is related with LMR systems, i am responsable for the proper operation of 8 repeater sites (multicast) and about 50 repeaters, all of them supporting the operation of more than 1,200 suscriber units. At my job we have a Motorola system (type II) working in 800 Mhz band, but we are migrating to a Motorola APCO digital system. The problem that i have been dealing with, is that we have had recent problems with the XTS2250 radio wich doesnt meet out expectations. It has a lot of failures like: PTT button gets broken so easily, display doesnt works propely (when you open the radio you can discover that the connection isnt making proper contact, the keypad doesnt last enought, etc.)
Now a new problem araises: FAIL 01/82, i have a few units presenting this problem and they dont have even a year working! Motorola has repaired all of them saying its a problem of ROM, main board, logic section, etc. but i wonder if anyone here has an idea of what is going on! Motorola doesnt tell much about it and the local representatives belive is something related with programming (is that a joke????).
Any comment is well received.

You probably will never get the real story. Just keep banging them for the repairs and ask for an extended warranty period. I know NYPD has in their contract that any item, or part with more than a 10% failure will be replaced and continue to be replaced until the item stops failing. Run that by them and see what happens. I suspect the FTR's will start coming out of the woodwork to correct the problems.

Firmware rev 11.00.00 was bad, IIRC that would cause the 01/82 for no reason at all but if your radios are under a year old they should not have 11.xx.
