Programming XTL-2500

I'm having issues programming an XTL-2500. It's a mid power (and i've tried doing a high power) radio using a Motorola Genuine USB Cable.

I plug it into the radio, the radio flashes between the channel it's on and NO USB. When I plug the USB into my Windows XP laptop, I get a "Power Surge on USB Port" error on XP. If I try it on my Windows 7 laptop, the USB doesn't show up and the radio still flashes NO USB.

What am I doing wrong?

This is a remote mount right? Remote Mid Power XTL's do not support USB via the TIB.

Your cable looks like this, right?

Cable looks right.

I've got it to show up in my laptop now, but there's a driver issue. Where can I find the download for the driver.

Driver should have been installed along with CPS. Try deleting the unknown device in your device manager and see if Windows recovers it then. If not, reinstall the CPS. If you want to use the USB cable you will need to go through the mic jack on the control head.

2nd going through the mic jack on the control head for remote mid power applications. Also I have experienced and also heard of the driver not loading. Uninstalling and reinstalling the CPS has always solved this for me. Not sure why this happens but thats USB for you. I try to stick with serial whenever possible.

Got it!

Unistalling and reinstalling the CPS & Deleting out the USB Device worked. Thanks guys!
