hi, bat labs is not very detailed from what i can tell from the mx screen about what mx300-s eprom radios can be burned once or can be burned over and over. is there a part number on the eprom caseing that indicates if it is burn once, or reprogramable?

the top question is the biggest one i need to know, the bottom would be nice to know.

also, is pl/dpl a programable function? or element?

last question, why do some units say on front mx300 mx320 mx330 mx340 mx350 mx360
what do the different numbers mean, i really cant seem to tell due to many mx radios i see have all kinds of options.

from Batlabs:
"The MX-350 "S or R" versions are the only programmable MXs. It programs in the R-1800 suitcase programmer - the C & D versions of the codeplug are eraseable and re-programmable. The A & B versions are a one-time prom. "D" version firmware for the 1800 can program C or D version chips. "C" version firmware can only program C version chips. "B" version firmware can program A or B version chips. "A" version firmware will only program A version chips. Also the programming adapter changed from A & B to C & D. They are no longer available from Mot Parts."

It seems they removed some of the information that used to be there. There was a list of the EEPROMS and the corresponding Mot Part #.

The PL/DPL is done by elements down towards the bottom of the radio, they should be label as to which PL's they are.

The different numbers are in relation to size of the frame. mx320 is the smallest, and mx360 is the biggest. The bigger the frame the more options you can cram in there. Some of the bigger ones can house MODAT and some other ass't features.

i did find this under the batlabs mx300 s/r

MX-300S and MX-300R radio memory have a maximum of 48 channels, arranged in 4 zones of 12 channels. There are two kinds of memory, early ones that are PROMs and can only be burned once, and EEPROMs that can be reprogrammed. Both kinds can be programmed only with the R-1801A or R1821A suitcase programmer, with suitable adapter board and software (RTL5805C adapter and RTL4809C software). This version can program both the write-once and reprogrammable memories, but earlier versions can program only the write-once kind. The late version reprogrammable part is RPX4455A or NLN7302B.

i see the listing for the latest model of reprogramable eprom's but wonder if mine is new enough to be reprogrammed also, my eprom holder has 2 part nombers on it on the lower side it says NLD7350A (other info 29e16 b and 8426 b )
the top cover has the following part number NLN5096A (other info 8524 SIN)

Your proms are not EEPROMs, however if you only have a 1 or 2 zone radio, your proms can be expanded... Basically by going in and reading prom, using the EXPAND option you can program another bank and install a jumper wire, and you have a new bank of 12 channels. The default bank on the old A, B series proms is bank "B". So you can either expand bank A, C, or D, and then wire the board to see that as the zone. Once in a while I ran across a prom where they burn every single zone to keep from expanding but 95% usually are left open.
