XTS2500 Model III only at 512 channels even with 14.00.03???

Hello, all. I know that the 12.00.00 and up is supposed to give the model II and III radios a maximum channel capacity of 870 but I am encountering the issue of the CPS saying my maximum on my model III (H46SDH9PW7BN) is only 512 and it is upgraded to 14.00.03. I am using CPS 15.00.00. Thanks in advance for your time and input. -E

An improper upgrade may have been done on the radio. A proper upgrade involves using the correct cps version with the correct cvn upgrade file and a refresh key.
Is there also a chance that it is a 4 meg radio?? Haven't had any dealings with those but does 4 meg limit the channel capacity?

A 4 meg should still the full channel capacity. I would guess it was a forced firmware upgrade that did not upgrade the codeplug.

I thought the 4 megs were limited to 512 channels? The R12 (actually R10 or higher) CVN won't fit in the radio so I don't see how the channel capacity could increase. Just upgrades the DSP

The CVN's are updated for minor (current is host 09.00.20 DSP 15.00) stuff. But every 4 meg I have updated does have 870 channels.

4 meg radios do not get features added past R09, just bug fixes. The 870 mode upgrade is considered a feature for the 2500, and was added in R12.0.0.

Well I must be doing something wrong, I have a bunch of AN units with 870 channels. They were upgraded with a refresh key and they are not hacked to add more channels. If you would like I can post a screen shot, or codeplug.
Now just to be sure the radio wide screen was not lying (I have a BIG foot, and I don't want it in my mouth) to me I did load up all 870 channels. I have 4 zones total 3 with 250 channels, and 1 with 120, and yes it is a 4 meg, AN unit. It's at codeplug 0019, host 09.00.13, and DSP 12.00.04.

The 4meg firmware is contained in the 8meg .cvn's from host R10 on. Host R12 introduced the 870 channel cap on the 2500. Either the radio in question was upgraded using CPS earlier than R12 with the newer .cvn, or it was force fed the .cvn which won't update the codeplug structure with the new channel cap..

I ran into the same problem when upgrading around 40 firmware versions between 7 to 9 up to 14 in the XTS5000's.
Our upgrades were done using my old employers legal copy of Astro25 depot tool and since even depot tool didn't update the codeplug structure I'd assume that the I-button method is the same.
Even after the flash upgrades we still needed to clone in a codeplug from a default 1000 channel radio to make the upgraded radios firmware recognize the 1000 channels available in the 5000 series radios.
If you can find a 870 channel codeplug for the same model radio as yours then doing a clone should give you visibility to the full channels.

Well, perhaps the release notes are not to be believed? Unfortunately, we have no 2500s- and I don't think there are any within a few hundred miles of here for me to go checking. It wouldn't be the first time the engineers were wrong.

I appreciate everyone's input without a doubt. It is in fact an 8 Meg radio so that rules that out. Is there anyone here that could do a proper firmware upgrade for a price as an attempt to fix for the full 870 capacity? Or if anyone has a codeplug to clone to this radio as was suggested? My other XTS2500 doesn't have the same flashcode so the clone for that wouldn't work I will undoubtedly get the feature set mismatch error. The radio is H46SDH9PW7BN and the FLASHcode is 500018-00048C-5. Thanks again for the help. -E
