Be careful using those. My guess is that they were made translucent like that so M could see the antenna design and test to make sure the molds were correct. They probably are fine but keep in mind that is probably why they are clear like that.

Any possibility that the previously used covering inhibited the GPS signals far too much to be usefull?
Given the difference in the dielectric properties of all synthetics, this may be one of those reasons.

Other than this, it's a crap shoot.

BTW: I like the clear look, it adds a bit of 'invisibility' to a portable.

It just a sales type of thing, to show the iner workings of the antenna.

How about posting the part number for this particular antenna, if you would please....

I'd love to test it for return loss on UHF and VHF personally.
